Landfolk - Podcasting and content marketing

In 2022 and 2023, I've assisted the Danish startup Landfolk in developing their very own and unique podcast. I helped them engage and connect on a deeper level with their target audience.

Should every company jump into creating their own podcast? The short answer is of course no – because in order to create a meaningful podcast, it’s crucial to have something interesting to share that people will actually want to listen to. Obviously. But how do you determine whether or not your brand has something interesting to say?

Two important questions to ask are the following: Does your brand share a common interest with the audience? And does the brand possess a unique knowledge worth sharing with the world?

Additionally, it’s essential to investigate in advance if there is a suitable audience and thus target group for your specific topic or area.

Sommerhusliv - A brand's unique guide to summer house living

“Sommerhusliv” (“summer house living”), is Landfolks very own podcast – hosted by two of the co-founders of the company.

The Landfolk concept consists in handpicking unique summer houses that are otherwise not easily accessible – and then making it easy and enjoyable to book them. The company has created a community of unique summer house owners who have chosen to open their doors and share their seasonal homes with others.

Through the community, Landfolk has access to a wealth of knowledge about all aspects of summer house living – from the unique Danish history of summer houses to insights about the most skilled architects and interior designers, as well as practical tips and tricks for owning a summer house and making the most of it.

The answers to the aforementioned questions are in this case –  yes! Landfolk shares a common interest with the community and at the same time possesses unique knowledge in various areas that are relevant to the target audience.

With their podcast, Landfolk builds on this unique position with a comprehensive and content-filled platform to engage with their audience.

5 reasons to work with podcast

1. Engage and connect with your audience: Podcasts offer a unique opportunity to engage with your target audience on a personal level. By providing valuable and entertaining content in an audio format, you can establish a genuine connection with listeners. Through a podcast, you can share insights, stories, and expertise, building a loyal and engaged community around your brand.

2. Show thought leadership: Podcasts allow businesses to position themselves as industry experts and thought leaders. By sharing industry insights, trends, and knowledge through your podcast, you establish credibility and gain the trust of your audience. This can strengthen your brand’s reputation and differentiate you from competitors.

3. Amplify brand awareness: Podcasts provide an additional platform to expand your brand’s reach and increase awareness. As you consistently release episodes, your podcast becomes a powerful branding tool, exposing your business to new audiences. Listeners who resonate with your content are more likely to share it with others, further spreading the word about your brand.

4. Foster authentic connections: Podcasts offer a more intimate and authentic way to connect with your audience compared to other marketing channels. Through conversations, interviews, and storytelling, you can showcase the human side of your business, fostering a sense of trust and relatability. This authentic connection helps to build long-term relationships with your listeners, who may become loyal customers and brand advocates.

5. Diversify content strategy: Incorporating podcasts into your content strategy adds variety and diversifies your marketing efforts. While written content and visuals are important, podcasts provide an audio experience that appeals to a growing audience of podcast enthusiasts. By catering to different preferences, you can reach and engage with a wider range of potential customers.
